Day 7, Month 7, Year 2729 of Our Exile (Mon Sep 17 15:55:29 PDT 2007)

Fact: humans are polygamous by nature

The first big, basic difference has to do with what I consider to be the most underappreciated fact about gender. Consider this question: What percent of our ancestors were women?

It's not a trick question, and it's not 50%. True, about half the people who ever lived were women, but that's not the question. We're asking about all the people who ever lived who have a descendant living today. Or, put another way, yes, every baby has both a mother and a father, but some of those parents had multiple children.

Recent research using DNA analysis answered this question about two years ago. Today's human population is descended from twice as many women as men.

I think this difference is the single most underappreciated fact about gender. To get that kind of difference, you had to have something like, throughout the entire history of the human race, maybe 80% of women but only 40% of men reproduced.

Is There Anything Good About Men?, by Roy F. Baumeister (August 24, 2007)

We humans have it better than the bees. For every thousand male bees, only one gets to reproduce and fill the queen bee with his seed. 40% odds is way better than that.

The fact that we have twice as many female ancestors as male ancestors proves that we are a polygamous species. A woman can't get pregnant without a man present. And if there are more women than men, that means some of those men are double or triple dipping.

The article I took the above quote from, Is There Anything Good About Men?, is long but well written. It is aimed at a general audience who don't easily listen to politically incorrect statements. The article states many simple truths: men are more extreme then women. On IQ tests of various sorts, men and women average out pretty close to each other. But the average is misleading. There are way more smart men than smart women. But there is a flip side. There are way more stupid men than there are stupid women. Women tend to be close to average. Men tend to be much less average. Men are all or nothing; very smart, or very dumb. Very strong, or very weak. Etc. He makes many other good points too, about the differences between men and women and how those differences shape our roles in society.

If you like that article, you'll love this short one by Amber Pawlik: Lesbians and Heroism. It shows that lesbian dominated societies always minimized risk and stagnated, while homosexual dominated societies became extremely warlike and aggressive. Normal marriage is needed to balance those aspects out. Homosexual relationships double the innate tendencies of both sexes to an unhealthy extreme.

Happy reading!

Update: Day 9, Month 8, Year 2729 of Our Exile

There are a couple other good articles on the interaction between men, women, and feminism, which I present for your reading pleasure:

Garbage Generation, by Daniel Amneus (1990). His book is about the consequences of the destruction of the two-parent family and the need to stabilize it by strengthening its weakest link, the father's role. With chapter titles like "the pathology of the female-headed family" and "Sleeping beauty feminism vs. slaughtered saints feminism" you know it is going to be a politically incorrect read.

The Return of Patriarchy, by Phillip Longman (2006). Good article showing why patriarchy never dies out. Matriarchy may rise to dominance for a while, but contains the seeds of its own destruction. But it also has good information on why patriarchy isn't the winner all the time; why does patriarchy go through periods of weakness. Patriarchy always leads to prosperity, wealth, and peace; for that reason everyone should understand it and how it works.

SCUM Manifesto, by Valerie Solanas (1967). This document shows the spirit behind the feminist movement. It is a desire to lash out and hurt everyone. This is likely the same spirit who was in the Gadarene man. (Luke 8:26-37) That spirit made the man hurt his body. When Jesus put the spirit into a herd of pigs, it killed them all by making them drown themselves. The SCUM Manifesto is one of the key documents of the feminist movement.
