Love never fails; Jacob says the gifts of the Spirit are for today

1 Corinthians 13:8-12 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Jacob Fronczak wrote a great little article on the gifts of the spirit. Are they for today? He came to the conclusion that all of the gifts of the spirit are for today, but almost noone has them because noone is observing the Torah. The Pentecostals are at least faking it, but the other Christians are snobbishly claiming that the gifts were done away with. They have to claim this to maintain their claim that they have the Holy Spirit in their hearts. Jake's article is short, give it a read: Love never fails.

My own personal vision is Pentecost 2033 C.E.. I want to be in an upper room on the day of Shavuot with 300 other devout, adult Torah-keeping disciples. I want us to have been fasting and praying together in that upper room for two or more weeks. I am convinced if we did that, we would see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Ruach ha'Kodesh, of the same power and miraculous intensity as the original Pentecost 33 C.E.

I believe that the Toronto Blessing and other modern outpourings of the spirit must be false; they are not teaching people to obey the Laws of Jehovah. Look at their fruit. As far as manifestations go, the Toronto Blessing seems genuine; all the manifestations and "wierd" stuff is described in the Bible. King Saul prophecied in exactly the manner it is done at the Toronto Blessing. When people roar like a lion or paw the ground like a bull, they are representing powerful prophetic types, and often come with a message relating to that type. Even "slain in the spirit" is described in the Bible. It is the fruit you must look for; that is the true evidence. Anyone can speak in tongues; but does it make you a better person?
